Frequently Asked Questions
Do you give free estimates?
Yes we do. These free estimates are for damage that can be seen
by the estimator. This is true for all body shops. Estimators can
make guesses and warn of the possibility of "hidden damage",
but we haven't met one yet that can see thru metal! 99% of repairs
have a "supplement", (the additional damage and cost it
takes to fix your vehicle correctly).
Do I have to get 3 estimates?
No. Many times insurance companies tell you to get 3, but their
own estimate writers don't consider these when they write their
own. The most important thing to do, is pick a body shop you trust.
If you already have one, just tell the insurance company who you
chose.
The two advantages of getting estimates is you get to "pre-screen"
any body shop you are thinking of using, and you'll have some idea
of what the repair will cost in the end.
My insurance says I have to go to "XYZ" shop.
Sometimes they do have shops that work directly with them, saving
them time and money. Forcing you to use to a certain shop is called
"steering", and is against the law. If you do go to one
for your appraisal, you are under no obligation to use them. You
can take your estimate and get your car repaired wherever you want
to.
Can you tell me over the phone how much my repair will be?
It is impossible for us to estimate over the phone. Every collision
is different. What may look like "just a scratch" to some,
could be major damage to another. The best thing to do is come in
and spend a few minutes getting a free estimate.
I can't bring in my car, it's not safe.
We do offer mobile estimates, by appointment only, for a fee. There
is no guaranteed pricing on these estimates. We are also able to
tow your vehicle in and do a complete estimate, identifying all
the damage, and giving you a clear picture of your repair.
The person that hit me doesn't want to claim it on his/her insurance.
-Or- He/she had a friend who will fix it.
I know times are hard and we'd all like to help our fellow man
out, but this puts you at risk for a huge bill, or worse, faulty
work done. When you are hit, you are entitled to a rental car and
have the right to have your car fixed back to factory specifications,
with minimal hassle from someone trying to save money. This rarely
works out to be a fair and easy process.
